THE BEST PACKAGING ITEMS IN THE WORLD WERE SELECTED. ADARA WON THE WORLDSTAR 2018 AWARD.

Adara Pakkaus Oy won the ScanStar 2018 award in a competition for Nordic packaging industry operators. Its winning streak continued in the WorldStar 2018 competition for the best packaging in the world.

Adara Pakkaus won the WorldStar award with a collecting container for cardboard cups, designed by Kaisa Pietilä for Kotkamills, which stacks up plastic-free cups after use. The container and cups can be placed in a cardboard recycling container as they are.

“We are a Finnish company that manufactures corrugated cardboard and packaging made of corrugated board. Our goal is to be the most flexible and trustworthy partner in the packaging industry and store marketing in Finland. The WorldStar award is an excellent indication that we are doing the right things while respecting the environment,” comments Antti Airaksinen, Sales Manager at Adara Pakkaus Oy.

“Kotkamills’ new, plastic-free cardboard products are a significant step in the promotion of a cleaner environment and the circular economy. As an industry pioneer, we provide plastic-free materials for consumer packaging and food and beverage services. A collecting container for cardboard cups facilitates recycling from the consumer’s perspective,” says Markku Hämäläinen, the CEO of Kotkamills Oy.

WorldStar is an annual competition for packaging organisations around the world. This time, it received 319 entries from a total of 35 countries. The jury convened in Jinan, China, in October, and the awards will be handed out in Prague next May. Finnish packaging industry operators can enter the competition for the best packaging in the world by first participating in the Nordic ScanStar competition. Packaging awarded with a ScanStar first are then eligible to take part in WorldStar. In Finland, both competitions are represented by the Finnish Packaging Association.
